Snatch is not only a movie

After the super crappy workout yesterday I needed to get back into training today and make up for it. So I jumped into doing barbell power snatches – Boy, what the hell?! How heavy can 40 KG suddenly be if you do that movement? How in the world does anyone move over 100 KG like this? And I didn´t even do an olympic snatch which would be the version that also contains a full overhead squat, I only did the cheap baby version. Obviously it does not help that I´m nearly 2 meters tall and have to move the weight all the way up there 😛

This is a Power Snatch – Video footage belongs to Rogue Fitness

However, it was super amazing and a ton of fun for me. See, I mostly do static movements like Squats, Deadlifts and Bench Press and all that shenanigans. Suddenly having this complex movement in there makes it all very exciting. I will def. keep doing it and also work out how to perform an actual overhead squat.

I will also start adding in clean and jerk into my routine which contains a front squat. And I´m pretty good on my form in front squats and also not too shabby in overhead push press, so it will stay exciting. I´ll see if I can do some filming in the gym or if that´s not allowed. That way I can share the footage of my olympic lifts with you and can get feedback on it.

Here´s what I did today:

  • Bar high pulls:
    • 3 x 10 @ 30KG
    • 3 x 5 @ 40KG
  • Power snatches:
    • 2 x 5 @ 20KG
    • 3 x 5 @ 30KG
    • 2 x 2 @ 40KG
  • Strict Overhead Press:
    • 5 x 5 @ 42.5KG
  • Battleropes & Kettlebell side bends superset
    • 5 x 30 Seconds
    • 5 x 10 each side @ 24KG
